KKR vs MI Weather Report: Rain Threat Looms Over Crucial IPL 2026 Clash At Eden Gardens

Match 65 of IPL 2026 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians is under a serious weather threat, with heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast in Kolkata on Wednesday, May 20. The high-stakes clash at Eden Gardens could face interruptions due to adverse weather conditions.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert for Kolkata, predicting strong winds, lightning, and rainfall during the evening hours. With KKR still fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, the possibility of a shortened match or washout could significantly impact the IPL 2026 points table.

The weather in Kolkata remained extremely hot and humid throughout the day, with temperatures touching 36°C. However, due to high humidity levels, the real feel temperature climbed close to 42°C. Dark clouds have already started gathering around the Eden Gardens area, increasing the chances of evening showers.

As the scheduled start time of 7:30 PM IST approaches, rain is expected to play a major role. Forecasts suggest a 22–25% chance of rainfall during match hours, along with possible thunderstorms and lightning activity. If rain arrives, fans could witness a delayed toss, reduced overs, or even interruptions during play.

A wet outfield may also impact bowling conditions, especially for spinners, making it tougher for captains to defend totals under slippery conditions.
