Tim David has become the centre of attention on social media after a viral video allegedly showed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter making an offensive gesture following RCB’s thrilling last-ball win over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 on Sunday.
The clip, which quickly spread online after the match in Raipur, appears to show David making a middle-finger gesture from the RCB dugout moments after Bengaluru sealed a dramatic two-wicket victory. However, the footage remains unverified, and there has been no official confirmation regarding either its authenticity or the context behind the alleged gesture.
The tense finish had already generated huge buzz among fans. Chasing 167, RCB needed 15 runs in the final over and looked to be losing control after Romario Shepherd was dismissed. Mumbai Indians appeared set for victory before Bhuvneshwar Kumar swung the momentum with a crucial six, eventually allowing Rasikh Salam Dar to complete the chase off the final ball.
As celebrations erupted inside the RCB camp, cameras captured emotional reactions from players and support staff. It was during those moments that David’s alleged gesture became a major talking point online, with fans debating whether adrenaline, rivalry, or frustration may have played a part.
The Australian power-hitter previously spent three seasons with Mumbai Indians before joining RCB at the IPL 2025 auction. Since moving to Bengaluru, David has become an important member of the batting line-up and played a key role in the franchise’s title-winning 2025 campaign.
Last season, he scored 187 runs in 12 matches at an average of 62.33 and a strike rate of over 185.
Ironically, David endured a disappointing outing against his former side on Sunday. Batting at a crucial stage of the chase, he was dismissed for a golden duck by Corbin Bosch, further fuelling speculation among fans that emotions may have boiled over after the dramatic finish.
