Mitchell Starc has been cleared to travel to India for IPL 2026 after recovering from shoulder and elbow injuries, providing a timely boost to Delhi Capitals.

According to reports, the Australian fast bowler is expected to link up with the squad soon and could be available for Delhi’s clash against Rajasthan Royals on May 1.

Starc has been out of action since late January following a demanding run during The Ashes, where he claimed 31 wickets and was named Player of the Series. He later featured in the Big Bash League for Sydney Sixers, but sustained shoulder and elbow injuries while diving for a catch against Perth Scorchers.

The injury setback delayed his IPL arrival, and even after initial rest, Starc experienced discomfort upon returning to bowling. However, the pacer has now completed a full week of pain-free training in Sydney and is set to make his comeback.

While he may need some time to regain match fitness, Starc is expected to be available for the remainder of the tournament if his recovery continues smoothly.

Cummins, Hazlewood Also Near Return

In further good news for Australian cricket, Pat Cummins is also nearing a return and could soon rejoin Sunrisers Hyderabad after recovering from a back injury that has kept him out since December. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood is also expected to be available soon.

Their return comes as a major positive for Cricket Australia, with a packed international calendar ahead, including key Test assignments and the next ODI World Cup.

Delhi Capitals’ Current Position

Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, are currently placed fifth on the IPL 2026 points table. The side has won three out of six matches and will look to strengthen their campaign with Starc’s inclusion.
