Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir found himself at the centre of controversy during the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2026, following a heated on-field moment with Faheem Ashraf.
Amir, who is representing Rawalpindiz, was in action during their ninth league match on Thursday, April 23. After dismissing Islamabad United all-rounder Ashraf, the left-arm pacer celebrated with an aggressive send-off that didn’t go down well with the batter.
Ashraf, a member of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad, reacted angrily to the gesture and appeared to charge towards Amir before players intervened to defuse the situation. The incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans.
Rawalpindiz’s campaign, meanwhile, has gone from bad to worse. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side has been knocked out of the playoff race after suffering eight consecutive defeats. In contrast, Islamabad United, captained by Shadab Khan, remain in contention, currently placed third on the points table with four wins from seven matches.
