Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran’s blistering half-centuries powered Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) to a 12-run win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Tarouba on Monday, strengthening their grip at the top of the CPL 2025 points table.

Pollard & Pooran turn it around

Sent in to bat, TKR were in early strife at 27/2 inside five overs and then 78/3 in the 11th. But Pooran counterattacked with a flurry of sixes, smashing Ashmead Nedd for three maximums in his first five balls. While Darren Bravo scratched around at the other end, Pooran kept the scoreboard ticking before Pollard walked in and stole the show.

The TKR skipper exploded from the outset — hammering Navin Bidaisee for three sixes before launching into Waqar Salamkheil for four consecutive sixes to race to his fifty in just 21 balls. His whirlwind knock featured eight sixes and no fours. Together, Pollard and Pooran added 90 runs in just 8.1 overs to lift TKR to 179/6.

Patriots start strong, but fade away

Chasing 180, the Patriots were in control early as Evin Lewis (42 off 25) and Andre Fletcher (67 off 54) stitched a 96-run opening stand in 10.4 overs. But once Lewis fell to Nathan Edward and Amir removed Alick Athanaze and Jason Holder, the chase derailed.

Fletcher held firm but received no support from the middle order as the Patriots lost momentum. Edward returned to finish with 3/30, while Amir chipped in with 2/29 before hobbling off injured during his final over. Usman Tariq then kept his nerve in the final over, conceding just one six as the Patriots finished on 167/6, 12 runs short.

Dominance continues

This was TKR’s fifth consecutive win and sixth in seven matches this season, cementing their position at the top of the table. In contrast, the Patriots slipped to their third straight defeat, having now lost six of their last seven games to remain fifth.
