Babar Azam endured a rare failure in the second ODI against the West Indies on Sunday (August 10) at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba. Coming in at No. 3 for Mohammad Rizwan’s side, Babar faced just three deliveries before being bowled for a duck. On the final ball of the ninth over, West Indies pacer Jayden Seales produced a beauty that breached Babar’s defence and sent his stumps flying.
The moment, along with Babar’s stunned reaction, quickly went viral on social media platform X, drawing thousands of views within hours.
Babar, who is no longer part of Pakistan’s T20I setup, had scored 47 runs from 64 balls in the series opener on Friday (August 8), hitting five fours and a six. Before dismissing Babar in the second ODI, Seales had already struck a key blow by removing opener Saim Ayub for 23. In the first match, Saim had managed just five runs from 12 balls.
The second ODI is a must-win for the West Indies to keep the three-match series alive. A loss would hand Pakistan an unassailable 2–0 lead.
Speaking to broadcasters before the match, Babar expressed his fondness for playing against the Caribbean side.
“I love to play against the West Indies. They are a good team with quality bowlers. Conditions here are challenging and slightly double-paced, so I try to play my natural game, assess the situation, and build partnerships. In my view, one top-order batter should bat deep while the rest bat around him,” he said.
