Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has raised serious concerns over multiple “anomalies and irregularities” during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026, confirming that a strict advisory will be issued to all franchises.

Speaking in Guwahati, Saikia revealed that the board has observed several breaches of anti-corruption and security protocols. These include unauthorised individuals accompanying team members, gaining access to team hotels, and even entering players’ and officials’ rooms.

He also flagged instances of franchise owners and team officials interacting with players in restricted zones — areas where access is strictly prohibited under IPL guidelines.

Calling the situation “serious,” Saikia said the BCCI, along with the IPL governing body, is set to release a formal advisory to reinforce compliance with tournament protocols.

“We have noticed a lot of unauthorised persons moving along with team members. Some are entering hotels and even players’ or officials’ rooms, which is completely against our anti-corruption protocols. We have also seen owners and officials mingling with players in restricted areas. These are clear violations,” Saikia said.

He added that the board has taken the matter very seriously and warned of strict consequences for any future breaches.

“We are issuing an advisory, and it will be followed very strictly. Any violation going forward will invite stringent action from the BCCI and IPL authorities,” he stated.

The development comes amid recent disciplinary incidents. Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals, was fined 25 per cent of his match fee and handed a demerit point after being caught using an e-cigarette in the dressing room during a match against Punjab Kings.

In another case, Rajasthan Royals team manager Ravinder Singh Bhinder was fined ₹1 lakh for using a mobile phone near the dugout during a game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

With the IPL entering a crucial phase, the BCCI’s advisory signals a firm stance on maintaining discipline, integrity, and strict adherence to tournament protocols.
