In a major setback for England, captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test against India due to a right shoulder injury. Stokes was instrumental in the previous Test in Manchester, delivering a standout all-round performance with a century and a five-wicket haul.
In his absence, Ollie Pope will lead the side for the series finale, which begins Thursday, July 31, at The Oval in London.
Stokes has been England’s top performer in the series, finishing with 17 wickets at an average of 25.24 and scoring 304 runs at 43.43.
